Real Techniques Core Collection Review

These brushes have a place in everyone's mind and heart, whether you want them or own them. The Real Techniques brushes by Sam and Nic Chapman have became very popular over the past year or so and are raved about by almost every beauty blogger. So, when I ordered the Core Collection from Amazon I couldn't wait to start using them! But what do I think of them? Are they all they're cracked up to be?

About
The Core Collection consists of four brushes - The Detailer Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Buffing Brush and Contour Brush. All of the brushes are made with synthetic hand-cut bristles that are 100% animal cruelty-free. The handles are made from aluminium which makes them feel light in your hand and look fancy (in my opinion). The Core Collection comes with a panoramic case that has spare room for other brushes and can be used to stand brushes up.

Detailer Brush
This brush can be used for two things. The first being concealer, the second being a lipstick brush. I don't find this brush particularly useful for concealer and prefer it as a lipstick applicator. I prefer to pat concealer in with my finger or use the Buffing Brush - I feel a little like I'm prodding my face when concealing with this brush. I can get into the corners of my mouth with this brush without getting product on my skin - especially useful for darker lip colours. This brush is quite the nifty little thing to have in your handbag!

Pointed Foundation Brush
In all honesty, this is the brush I use the least. For foundation, I found the brush was way too small to distribute product onto my face evenly. I also found it left the foundation slightly streaky which I wasn't too impressed with. It would be ideal for concealer under the eyes and around the nose if you're thinking of buying this brush. Sadly, I'd say this is the brush I use the least in this set. I do wish I could find some love for it but it's just not happening. Sorry pointy brush :(

Buffing Brush
This brush is supposed to be for applying powder and mineral foundation, but again, I prefer it for other purposes. I found that this brush was absolute perfection for liquid foundation application. It blends my foundation onto my face smoothly and effortlessly. Also, the longer you spend blending, the better it looks! I use this almost everyday without fail, it's my favourite brush in this collection. Sam and Nic did themselves proud with this one!

Contour Brush
It's obvious what this brush is for. The pointed tip of this brush allows precise application of highlighter and bronzer and the fluffy bristles surrounding it are perfect for blending the both out. Strangely enough, I love this brush for blusher too. The rounder part of this brush is perfect for it and blends product out very easily, giving the appearance of a natural "inner glow" :)

The brushes overall are quite impressive, and for £15 pounds on Amazon I'm glad I decided to buy the set. They're well worth the money you pay and they seem to be lasting pretty darn well. I can wholeheartedly say that after months of owning these brushes, they haven't shed once. Impressive.
I wish I hadn't ruined the case with makeup so I could show you that too, but it's quite dirty and the makeup just wont lift from it.

I feel like these ARE worth the hype and if you're looking for a set of brushes on a budget then these are definitely for you!
