Cross Dresser Fish?

Our fish tank is home to a Balloon Molly named Bubbles. Our little guy "gained weight" rather drastically, which we thought was down to overfeeding. Bubbles is very greedy and very interactive. When he's hovering by the tub of food on the table then fluttering up and down in front of you, it's very distracting and difficult to ignore. We all thought this was the cause of his "weight gain", but little did we know...

Bubbles was pregnant.

We were told when we purchased our cutie that she was male, along with the two other males we bought. That's not the case at all. Last week, Bubbles gave birth to about 10 fish over the course of 6 days. I'm so excited to have loads of little baby Mollies swimming around our tank, though it came as a shock when we saw babies popping out of her!

The other day, I was sat beside the tank when the most odd thing happened... There was a baby fish swimming down directly into the filter against the bubbles. It then let itself go and the bubbles carried it back up. It was playing in the filter bubbles! If I manage to catch it on my camera I'll upload it on another post :)

Sadly, I've only seen four swimming around today. The other day there was about eight, but we think some of them have been eaten by their mother which is quite sad. I never knew I could get attached to fishes.

They used to hide around the tank, but now they're starting to swim around a lot more and feed more often. They're so adorable! Here are some pictures...
