Rimmel Kate Rockin' Curves Mascara Review

Kate's Rockin' Curves Mascara is something I'd been looking forward to since I first heard about its release. Being a lover of the Kate Moss Lipsticks, I had high hopes for her new mascara! After wanting this mascara for so long, my wonderful friend Kathryn picked it up for my birthday! Thank you Kathryn ^_^

So, I have a love/hate relationship with this mascara. It can look amazing on when you have time to be precise and careful with your application. On the other hand, if you're rushing and combing your lashes with the brush carelessly... Well, this mascara can be your worst enemy. Ever heard anyone say this mascara makes lashes mega clumpy? Yup, that's what it'll do to you if you don't take care. In the top right picture above, you'll see a large clumpy string of product on the end of the brush. Once put safely back into the tube, you're good to go.

First thing's first, I combed my lashes to separate them and prevent lashes sticking together when I apply the mascara!

Coat 1
Coat 2
Lashes combed
I personally love the natural look of lashes for the daytime, so two coats and a good comb of the lashes works for me. A pet peeve of mine is when lashes aren't properly separated. I know some people love the look, and some hate it - you now know which side I'm on. If you like your lashes like that then by all means, go for it. My personal preference though is the "no spider-lash" look :)

This is what the mascara looks like on both top and bottom lashes. One thing that annoys me about this product is that the brush is thick. It makes it quite - no in fact- very difficult for me to apply it to my bottom lashes without getting it all over my under eyes. When that happens, life is a disaster. The process of wiping it off takes a good 10 minutes because it smudges and smudges until you're back to square one with your lower lashes. Not only does it irritate me as a person, it irritates my under eye area. I wouldn't recommend using this product on the lower lashes unless you're used to this kind of brush in this area and have a good few minutes to spare incase of emergency!

Here's a comparison between my left eye and my right eye. Can you tell which eye has the Kate mascara on? Of course you can! This mascara opens up my eye and makes me look like I have lovely, long lashes. Looking at this image, I do feel that the product is worth the time put into application for me. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to wake up 10 minutes earlier to perfect my lashes (though if it were winged eyeliner, it'd be a different story). I'd much rather sleep in another 10 minutes and use a more fool-proof mascara.

Here's the final outcome:

What do I like about this mascara?
It gives me long, jet-black eyelashes
The snazzy packaging
The £7.49 price tag
It grabs small lashes in the inner corner as promised
Its "willingness" to come off my lashes when I attempt to remove it

What do I dislike?
The application is a bit of a pain
Clumpy lashes are a likely if not precise
Smudging = DISASTER
The major case of panda-eyes when removing. I find this mascara takes about two makeup wipes to remove which irritates my eyes. I just wish there were less product smearing all over my face at once

Do I agree with what the product claims?

"The broken heart-shaped brush twists and curves to hug the lash-line, capturing those hard-to-reach inner lashes"
Yes, though you will need to be careful not to touch the wand to your skin (which is quite difficult with such a big wand).
"Its fierce carbon black formula gives lashes amazingly dramatic volume for the ultimate intense lash effect"
Agreed.
"Lashes are plumped and lifted in one clean stroke"
I wish. Imagine how quick makeup application would be if this were the case? Somebody please invent this.
"No clumps!"
...I'll leave that one with you. Do you experience clumpiness with the Rimmel Kate Rockin' Curves Mascara? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Thanks for the follow :) For me it's just one of those that I fancy some days but not others. Don't you think the packaging is real sassy?:D x
