I Woke Up Like This Wednesday #2

This post, I'll be showing you how I curl my hair with bobbles. It has no official name as far as I'm aware so let's just for arguments sake call it bobble curling - makes sense, right? Here's the finished look...

So, bobble curling is a pretty straightforward way of achieving tight curls and a lot of volume. It's really easy to do but really quite uncomfortable to sleep on, so I'd only suggest this method if you're an easy sleeper.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Hair Brush
  • Water Spray
  • Frizz Serum
  • 10 Bobbles
STEP 1
Brush and part your hair. Again, it seems obvious but for a lot of us it's hard to forget the importance of that step. Nobody wants to wake up with knotty curls - trust me, it's super painful to brush out later on.

STEP 2
Split your hair on one side from the ear up to your parting. This piece will be your first bobble curl.

STEP 3
Spray your hair with water and be careful not to soak it or else it wont dry overnight. If your hair is damp in the morning when you take out the bobbles then the curls will most likely drop completely after an hour or so - even with hairspray.

STEP 4
Begin to twist your hair tightly.

STEP 5
Once it gets tight, you'll notice that the hair starts to wrap around itself slightly at the top. That's what's going to create your curl. So, wrap the hair around itself until you can't any more as shown below.

STEP 6
Tie a bobble around it to secure it. Be cautious of tying it too tightly, it can be extremely uncomfortable to sleep with otherwise!

STEP 7
Split your hair in half down the centre of your head. The remaining hair on the side you made your first curl on is what we will be using next.

STEP 8
Split your remaining section in half vertically, then split horizontally. This should give you four equally sized sections of hair to work with.

STEP 9
Repeat what you did with the first section. Twist the hair until tight enough to wrap around itself and then use a bobble to secure it.

STEP 10
Complete the rest of your head with the above steps.

The first and last pictures are silly ones that somehow made it into this post. I got a bit bored and made derpy faces and I think that, you know, that's okay :P
PS - Sorry for the poor picture quality, I don't know what my camera is doing with itself these days!

STEP 11
Get some sleep, duh!

STEP 12
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Get yourself up and out of bed and take out the bobbles. The hair may look bunched and a bit of a twisted mess, but you can fix that simply by running your fingers through the curls.

STEP 13
Add serum to your hair (specifically at the ends) to prevent frizz.
Here's what my hair looked like!

Camera is working better in the morning! Thank the lord and all his miracles. Anyway, lo and behold! That's a wrap, tutorial done now. We can all rest properly now (I'd forgotten just how awkward that is to sleep with in) and my hair was washed after these pictures so it really wasn't worth it in the end xD
Anyway, sorry for posting so late recently, I've been having trouble prepping for school and oh look at the time, I should probably be asleep right now. You know, first day back tomorrow and all. I'm off then, tarah, chow, adios, farewell, whatever floats your boat to be honest! I'll be posting twice a week now that I'm back to school as I won't have time for this as much. It sucks, really, but hey. Gotta do what you gotta do. I hope you look forward to the next post!
