I Woke Up Like This Wednesday #4

Hi guys, this week's hair post will be a lesson on headband curling. This is one of my favourite ways of curling my hair as the curls last about two days on my hair (crazy, right?) and they just look gorgeous! They're easy to work with and still look amazing the next day. PS: I'm so sorry that I couldn't get this up by Wednesday, I've had exams to revise for and simply didn't have time for it. I hope you understand, anyway, let's get at it!

You will need:
  • Frizz serum
  • A hairbrush
  • A water spray
  • A thick, stretchy headband
STEP 1
Brush and part your hair as you would before doing anything to your hair.

STEP 2
Spray your hair with water. This method is different to all of the others because it works best if you dampen all of your hair at the very beginning instead of doing it piece by piece. You'll see why as you read on.
Damp hair!
STEP 3
Take your headband and stretch it around the top of your head. It should rest over all of your hair and shouldn't slide up off your head - this might take a while to position depending on the shape of your head, but you should be fine. If you have any particularly annoying problems with the headband then just get a few bobby pins and pin the headband in place!:)
STEP 4
Take a small section of your hair from the front of your face and lift the headband. You're going to want to pull the hair up and around the headband. Lifting the headband gives you space to pull the hair through without making a mess of your hair.
STEP 5
Next, take the section you just pulled through the headband and incorporate another small section of hair into it. It's kind of the same concept as French Braiding - you're taking a piece of hair, doing what you have to with it, then adding another piece to it and repeating!

STEP 6
Wrap the now larger piece of hair around the headband again. What this doing is creating curls around the headband, and each new strand of hair is a new curl. This means that by adjusting how tight you wrap each strand around the headband, you can create tighter curls or looser curls depending on what look you want to achieve. The good thing about this method is that as you add more sections of hair and wrap the hair around more and more, the previous strands get shorter and shorter until there's none left - meaning that in the end you don't end up with mega large curls at the back and super tight curls at the front.
STEP 7
Keep adding more and more hair as you go until you reach the middle of your head. Then, drop that section and start curling the other side of your head.
STEP 8
When you reach the back of your head and have two strands left, combine them and wrap them around the headband until you're left with your ends.
STEP 9
Grip the ends up and out of the way so that you can release the hair from the headband in the morning and to make sure you can actually find them!
STEP 10
Sleep on it.

STEP 11
Wake up, take out the grip and begin to take out the curls the same way you made them.

STEP 12
Once the headband is out of your hair, you can either leave your hair as it is or tip your head upside down and run your fingers through your hair. This makes your hair a lot more voluminous and breaks the curls up. I personally love the way this looks!:)
STEP 13
If your hair appears frizzy or feels dry, apply some serum to fix that.

There we have it! I hope you enjoyed this post, I'm sorry about the final pictures - my camera died and I was running late for school, therefore I had to use my phone. Nonetheless, try this out and let me know how it goes!
