EcoTools Foam Applicator Brush Review

The foam applicator brush was an impulse buy. I originally went out in search of a flat foundation brush and ended up coming back with this. I was immediately drawn to its unique sponge tip that I'd never seen on any other foundation brush before. My instant reaction was "...It's a beauty blender on a stick. I want it." and so here we are! If you haven't seen this product before, here's what I'm talking about...
See? Beauty Blender on a stick!
I personally loved the idea of this and one word came to mind - precision. I didn't even want to use it because it just looked so pretty. Sadly, it's hard to clean (obviously I used it - derp). Here's some facts and figs and whatnot...

The EcoTools brushes, including this one, are all made with recycled materials that are environmentally friendly. This specific brush has a recycled aluminium and bamboo handle and has a flat, pointed side of the sponge that helps with patting and blending in products in the hard-to-reach areas such as the corners of the nose and under the eyes.

You know when in Primary School you had to use sponges instead of brushes to paint things? That's kind of the same concept here. I pump my liquid foundation on to the back of my hand and pat the applicator into the product, then onto my face. It gives somewhat of an airbrushed finish which I liked.

This foam applicator feels soft when you pat it on your face with the product. It is indeed much easier to get into the corners of my face that don't like being reached and because the brush doesn't require you to prod your face to blend it's a nice tool to use on, well... Acne, face demons, hellspawns, call them what you will. Sensitive areas cooperate with this brush so it's in my good books :)

Here are a few statements that have been made by EcoTools, I'll let you know how I feel about them:

"The firm applicator tip applies liquid foundation easily around the contours of your face such as eyes and nose."
I think this pretty much sums up the applicator as a whole. It's good for hard-to-reach and delicate areas!

"It helps to create a smooth finish to your base makeup."
I agree with this one also, though sadly most of the product is absorbed into the sponge which is a bit of a waste.

Overall, I like the brush and I've never seen anything like it before. It puts the product where it needs to be and gives a nice, light finish. The only downside would be the amount of product it absorbs (even if I do soak the sponge in water beforehand). It's hard to clean too but I wouldn't class it as a downside, just an annoyance. I don't use it as often as my Real Techniques Buffing Brush but I do change things up every now and then and get some use out of this applicator. At £4.99, I'd say it's worth it. Not something I can't really live without but it's nice to have!

  1. I've heard so much about Beauty Blenders and never seen the appeal, but it really does give your skin (Which to be fair is amazing to begin with!) an airbrushed finish! For a fiver it's such a lovely price too!
