What has been your biggest challenge this year?
I think personally my biggest challenge has been adapting to the pressure of Year 11 - coursework deadlines, revision deadlines e.c.t. It's made me less of a slob if I'm truthful here. I used to be the kid that always forgot to do her homework or forgot about that exam next Tuesday. I think I've done a little growing up, I'm a lot more practical and organized now.
What has been your biggest achievement this year?
Right, probably getting the grades I did in my Spanish coursework. 4 pieces of coursework, 2 speaking, 2 writing. Both speaking I got As and both writing I got A*s. Spanish is really my trouble subject and I was told in the parents evening before last that if I tried, I'd get a C in Spanish. I'm an A student in pretty much every other subject, so this really troubled me. I'm proud of my Spanish coursework and got to prove my teacher wrong, and now I've got A/A* coursework behind me which is 60% of my overall GCSE.
What opportunities have you had this year?
Oh gosh, there's been quite a few. I went to the Clothes Show Live, I got to see Of Mice & Men in Theatre, I got to visit Oxford, Bath, I got to start up this blog! I got to start my DofE Bronze Award, applied to College and got a Conditional Offer... I'm probably forgetting things, but those are what spring to mind.
What is the single best thing that has happened to you this year?
Probably having my Mum say yes to me seeing Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens live together next year - I don't know how I wasn't hospitalised with a heart attack, because that's what I thought was going to happen.
What new things have you come to love over 2014?
- Books: The Maze Runner, The Mortal Instruments: City of Heavenly Fire, The Fault In Our Stars, The 5th Wave, Room and Matched.
- Films: The Maze Runner, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Divergent, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, The Fault In Our Stars, Lucy, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief.
- Shows: American Horror Story, Death Note, Bleach and Corpse Party.
- Shops: Lush and Amazon - obviously you can't stroll into Amazon, but technically it's a shop :L
- Artists/Bands - Fall Out Boy, Breaking Benjamin and Bring Me The Horizon.
Probably The Mortal Instruments: City of Heavenly Fire. That book. I was a wreck throughout the entire thing, absolutely hysterical I tell you. When you follow a series for so long it's inevitable to get attached to every character - and when a plot is that complex and beautiful... Wow. Just, well done Cassandra Clare. Book of 2014, and it came out on my birthday. Pap pap.
Film of the year?
The Maze Runner. I don't know why it upset me so much but boy did it do just that. It was full of pretty much everything I like in a film. I loved it.
TV series or show?
It's between Death Note and American Horror Story for me. I love both. I won't choose!;-; I should've wrote series or anime but I know a lot of people don't watch anime, so heyhey. Gotta make these questions reusable!
What lyric sums up your year best?
"Sometimes you gotta fall before you fly, and sometimes to really live you gotta try" - Who Are You Now - Sleeping With Sirens.
Have you as a person changed? If so, what has changed?
I'd say I've become more practical, less gullible and more... rocker-y?xD Basically my music style has developed into full-scale I like bands and guitars and drums. Things like that.
What are the biggest lessons you've learnt?
People change. Sometimes it's for the best, sometimes it's not. You've just gotta expect it! Also, I've learnt that surrounding myself with happy people will make me a better, happier person as a result.
What were last year's resolutions? Did you stick by them?
Haha, nooo.... Well, maybe kinda. I said I'd become healthier and focus on school more. I drink more water than I used to and go to the gym (healthy eating isn't part of my vocab though, I must admit). I have focused on my work a lot more. Hm, I guess I've stuck by what I said more than I realised.
What are your goals for the coming year?
Pass my exams, get into college, don't have a mental breakdown in the process, complete my DofE award and FINALLY find a holy grail foundation that is a perfect match with perfect coverage and perfect all o' that.
What are your resolutions for the coming year?
- Revise two hours a night (minimum)
- Don't take much to heart/learn to just let things go
- Say yes to more opportunities
- Don't be awkward as hell when meeting new people - basically become more confident
- Get into a bedtime routine for school
- Manage money better
- Post at least twice a week - more if possible
What exciting things are happening for you in 2015?
Well, I'll be doing my exams (which IS exciting if you think about it, you only get one shot and it determines the rest of your life... yes, nerve-wrecking, but a little exciting), I'll be leaving school, going to prom, going to college, going to my first concert, making new friends and becoming more independent. Plus I'm betting Insurgent, Mockingjay Part 2 and a ton more new movies are coming out in 2015.
Goodbye 2014, you've been very good to me.
Hello 2015, you best not have any surprises around the corner.
